40-Hour Training

Completion of a 40-Hour Training curriculum is required of all direct-service volunteers, prior to interacting with clients of Women’s Crisis Center.

Women’s Crisis Center’s 40-Hour Training consists of 8 individual modules scheduled on a rotating basis according to agency need and community demand.  Successful completion of all 8 training modules is a prerequisite for direct-serving volunteering at Women’s Crisis Center.

WCC’s innovative training offers a comprehensive, dynamic overview of the agency, its mission and services, WCC’s empowerment-based model, the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault, trauma, safety-planning, and more.

WCC’s 40-Hour Training classes are offered as a series, and are available to prospective direct-service volunteers who meet the following criteria:

  • volunteer application submitted
  • in-person volunteer interview completed
  • confidentiality & HIPAA documentation submitted (during in-person interview)
  • background check authorized & conducted (initiated during in-person interview)
  • willing to commit to a minimum of one year of service to the agency

Welcome to Women’s Crisis Center

In Northern Kentucky, Women’s Crisis Center’s roots run deep. Established in 1976 as the Rape Crisis Center of Northern Kentucky, Women’s Crisis Center (WCC) was formed to provide a 24-hour crisis hotline, crisis intervention, advocacy, community education, counseling and support services for rape survivors. In 1979, our name changed to reflect additional services being provided to battered women and their children. In WCC’s early days, women and children were sheltered in private homes within the community.
