Women's Crisis Center provides services to victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and human trafficking. Hotline crisis intervention, hospital and court advocacy, shelter for victims of domestic violence and child witnesses of domestic violence, public education and volunteer programs are a few of the many services we provide. We offer the opportunity to work in a professional team atmosphere.

COUNSELOR/ADVOCATE: We have openings in two locations for these positions

1. WILLIAMSTOWN, KY

2. MAYSVILLE, KY

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Rural Services Director, provides full range of crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, advocacy, and referral services to victims of domestic violence, rape, and related abuse.

Job responsibilities include:

Provide crisis intervention, intake, and assessment services to clients
Facilitate communication/teamwork among staff and handled related administrative responsibilites
Conducting individual and group counseling
Act as client advocate to outside agencies such as schools, courts, housing, hospitals
Additionaly, perform community outreach duties as needed

The hours of this position are Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM with occasional Saturdays and evenings.

Position (1) will be located at the Hebron and Williamstown offices, serving Boone and Pendleton counties.

Position (2) will be located at the Buffalo Trace office, serving Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason and Robertson counties.

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, skills, etc.):

Knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in a social service related field and one to two years related experience
Outstanding empathetic and listening skills
Knowledge of/experience with legal/court processes
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis oriented situations
Skills in training, leading, organizing, planning, and working independently
Abilities to advise, inform, interact, interpret, decide and problem solve
Ability to use training related equipment, such as hearing impaired equipment, tape recorders, and other audio visual equipment
Must complete KDVA Certification Training

Requirements for the position of Counselor / Advocates are: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work well independently or in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to be flexible with work schedule. Clinical knowledge of intervention strategies of domestic violence and sexual assault a plus.

Full time and part time positions are often available as expansion and growth increase staffing needs. Compensation is based on salary range for the position, education, and experience.
